The Grey Bushchat is distributed along the Himalayas to central and southern China while it migrates during the winter into northern India, Myanmar and Indochina.

It is found in a variety of habitats from forest edge to scrubby hillsides and gardens.

Male Grey Bushchat, Shemgang, Bhutan, March 2008 - click for larger image The male is grey to black with a grey-fringed back and lighter grey underparts. It has a long white supercilium above a black mask and a white throat. The female, seen here in photo 3, is similar but rufous-brown rather than grey and with a buffy supercilium and throat.
