January 2016

The Tree Pipit breeds across most of Europe and Asia and migrates south in the northern winter to Africa south of the Sahara and the Indian subcontinent. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It tends to be found in a variety of wooded areas and, in Ethiopia, up to 4,100 metres.

In Ethiopia it is both a passage migrant and a winter visitor arriving in September- October and leaving in April-May.
