The Thick-billed Raven is, apart from a few records, endemic to Ethiopia and Eritrea where it is found in a variety of mountain habitats at between 1,200 and 4,200 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

It is a very large raven with a huge bill, with a white tip to the bill and a white patch on the nape.
