Lake Awassa, Ethiopia The Spectacled Weaver is distributed from Ethiopia to South Africa and westward to Nigeria. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in a variety of habitats mainly between 1,200 and 1,900 metres. |

It is distinguished by the black line through the eyes which are pale yellow and, in the case of the male - shown here -, the black stripe down the throat. This is missing in the female. | |||
