Salvadori's Seedeater is endemic to a small area of Ethiopia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is classified as Vulnerable because of its small population.

Conte Adelardo Salvadori (1835-1923) was a medical doctor and ornithologist linked to the University of Turin. He had served with Garibaldi in Sicily.
