Mole NP, Ghana and Harenna Forest, Ethiopia

The Red-chested Cuckoo is distributed from Senegal to Ethiopia and south to South Africa. It is migratory in the southern part of its range. For a distribution map see Birdlife International. It is found in forest and open woodland where it feeds on insects, beetles, spiders, centipedes, snails and small frogs and lizards.

The call is loud and consists of three descending notes sometimes rendered as "Let it rain"
