The Madagascar Brush-warbler is distributed throughout most of Madagascar except the south and south-west where it is replaced by the Subdesert Brush-warbler N. lantzii. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in primary forest, secondary growth and gardens up to 2,700 metres.
