Ethiopia and Madagascar

The Hottentot Teal is distributed in Africa From Ethiopia to South Africa and Madagascar with a disjunct population in Chad. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found on fresh and alkali water bodies preferably with floating vegetation.
