The Ethiopian Siskin is endemic to the Highlands of Ethiopia and is common on moorland, grassland and open woodland from 1,800 to 3,600 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Ethiopian Siskin, Melka-Ghebdu Road, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image The male, seen here in photos 1 and 2 has a black head with prominent yellow wing bars and pale fringes to the blackish wing feathers. The female in photo 3 lacks the black head and the lack of a supercilium distinguishes it from female congeners.
