It is classified as Vulnerable because of its low numbers, the threat to its habitat from degradation and draining and the
increasing threat from hunting.
Distinctive features are its black primaries, its green secondaries and its pale-blue wing coverts. The male is noticeably larger than the female. It gives a high pitched whistle and the occasional grunt. |
