The Bearded Barbet is distributed in West Africa from Senegal to Chad. It is found in open woodland and wooded savanna.

Bearded Barbet, Tono Dam, Ghana, June 2011 - click for larger image It looks similar to the Double-toothed Barbet L. bidentatus but has a black breast band, a more obvious "beard" and a yellowish rather than whitish bill.
