Ifaty, Madagascar Archbold's Newtonia is distributed in the south and south-west of Madagascar. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in spiny Didierea and Euphorbia forests. |

Similar to Common Newtonia N. brunneicauda but distinguished by its brown rather than grey back,
rufous-tinged breast and grey forehead.
Richard Archbold (1907-1976) was an American zoologist whose father financed his expedition to Madagascar from 1929 to 1931. |
