The African Green-pigeon is distributed in most of Africa south of the Sahara. It is found in a variety of forest and woodland habitats. There are about 17 subspecies which vary in terms of colour of feet from yellow to red and size of cere. The sub-species shown here is T. c. sharpei.

African Green Pigeon, Kakum National Park, Ghana, May 2011 - click for larger image They eat a variety of fruit and berries are fond of figs. I think it is a fig that the bird in photo 1 has in its bill. They are generally quiet as they clamber along branches and occasionally hang upside down.
