The Yellow-throated Toucan is distributed from Honduras south through Central America to Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. See the distribution map at xeno-canto.

Yellow-throated Toucan, Wildsumaco Lodge, Napo, Ecuador, November 2019 - click for larger image It is found mainly in lowland forest which is a habitat under threat throughout most of its range. As a result it is classified as Near Threatened.

These photos are of the nominate sub-species noted for its black mandible and found along the eastern edge of the Andes. The other sub-species have a more chestnut-coloured mandible.
