The White-tailed Goldenthroat is a relatively large (10cm) hummingbird of savanna, cerrado and wet grasslands. There are two separate populations, one in Colombia, Venezuela and north Brazil and the other in central and east Brazil with the bordering areas of Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina.  White-tailed Goldenthroat, Serra da Canastra, Brazil, October 2022 - click for larger image The long, decurved bill and long white streak behind the eye can be seen in photo 1. Less easy to make out are the darkness of the bill and the pale belly which indicate that photo 1 is a female.
