The Superciliated Wren is distributed in south-west Ecuador and north-west Peru. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in scrub and dry woodland mainly below 1,500 metres.

The nominate form in western Ecuador is mainly whitish below while the sub-species found in north-west Peru, C. s. baroni, is more rufous on the belly as seen here.
