The Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe is distributed in the Andes from Ecuador south through Peru to Chile. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in highland bogs with cushion plants, etc. very close to the snow-line. In Ecuador this is between 4,000 and 5,500 metres. These photos were taken at 4,400 metres. Further south the altitude range is lower.
