Rio de Janeiro, Brazil November 2008 The Diademed Tanager is distributed in south-east Brazil from south-east Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay and adjacent areas of north-east Argentina and south-east Paraguay. |

It is found in Araucaria and other
montane forest types as well as in gardens and parks. It is
often seen perched on top of bushes as in photo 2. |

Sexes look alike but photo 4 shows an
immature bird emerging from its sooty-black colouration. |
