The Blue Finch is distributed in the cerrado and grasslands of central Brazil and is a near endemic with only a small area in Bolivia outside the Brazilian borders. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is classified as Near Threatened because of its patchy distribution and the threat to its cerrado habitat.
