The Blue-and-white Swallow is distributed throughout most of South America except for central and eastern parts of the Amazon Basin. It also migrates to Central America. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is common and frequently found in towns and agricultural areas where it often nests under the eaves of houses.

It is glossy steel blue above with black wings and tail. The black crissum is an important feature to distinguish it from other swallows.
