The Amazilia Humming bird is distributed along the Pacific coast of Ecuador and Peru. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in dry forest, scrub and gardens mainly below 1,000 metres.

Amazilia Hummingbird, Chaparri, Lambayeque, Peru, October 2018 - click for larger image It is distinguished in its range by its red bill with black tip. The amount of rufous is variable amongst its six sub-species as is the extent of white on the throat.
