Ankarafantsika N.P., Madagascar
November 2016

Van Dam's Vanga is found in several small patches on north and north-east Madagascar. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is classified as Endangered due to its restricted range and the threats to its habitat of primary dry deciduous forest.

This photo shows a male. The female has a small white forehead patch.

Douwe Casperius Van Dam was a Dutch naturalist who collected in Madagascar from the 1860s to the 1880s.
